One of America's well-known country bands is the band from Columbus, Ohio which calls itself the Rascal Flatts. The band is made up of just three members Gary, Jay and Joe. On lead vocals there is Gary LeVox, on bass guitar, keyboards and vocals is his cousin Jay DeMarcus and on lead guitar and vocals there is Joe Don Rooney.
The band was formed by the two cousins who come from a musical family in Ohio, Columbus. Before the band was formed Jay DeMarcus had moved out of Ohio to look for better opportunities in Nashville where he got his first record deal to be part of a Christian group. This was in 1992 and after five more years he finally convinced his cousin to quit his current job and enter the music industry.

DeMarcus met guitarist Joe Don Rooney when joined Chely Wright's band. Soon after this meeting DeMarcus along with his cousin Gary LeVox started playing at a local pub and one day when their guitarist didn't show up for work they invited Joe Don Rooney, this is where it all began.
The three decided to name the band Rascal Flatts as it was the name of a famous Oklahoma landmark where they had begun performing for the first time. In 1999, the bad were signed by Lyric Street Record and they are still affiliated with the same record company.
The Rascal Flatts first album was released in 2000 called Rascal Flatts and one of the singles made it to the #1 on the Country Billboard charts. The band's second album Melt which was released in 2002 enjoyed equal success and just like the first album, the second one also went on to becoming a Multi-Platinum album.
The band's latest album which was released in the year 2009 was their seventh album and the album was named Unstoppable. The album like most of the other albums the band released was a major success and sold over a million copies.
The band has also gone on a number of tours and currently they are on an American Living Unstoppable Tour which started in 2009 and will end this year.
